"Science On a Sphere" is a global display system that employs computer and video projectors to present planetary data, atmospheric storms, climate change, ocean temperature and other animations and images to the public in a visual and fascinating way. The audience can see a suspended Earth in the dark, just like the Earth seen by astronauts from space. By helping the audience learn more about the planet on which we live from a macroscopic perspective, Science On a Sphere is aimed at enhancing and expand the dissemination of knowledge to the public, stimulate public interest in astronomy and earth science and arouse the public awareness of protecting our precious planet.
"Beijing Science Lectures" is a flagship science education initiative hosted by Beijing Association for Science and Technology. This program focuses on the interpretation of scientific spirit and the discussion of trending science topics. Featuring star speakers and a series of enlightening lectures, it collaborates with various media outlets to extend its reach and impact and aims to promote free and featured Science popularization among the general public.
As a unique educational programs at BJSC, the "Life, Living and Survival" Exhibition-based Courses aim to disseminate scientific thinking and methods to teenagers by digging deep into the educational resources of our exhibits and keeping in lock step with the guidelines for primary and secondary education curricula. The courses consist of 120 themed activities designed for different age groups, featuring diverse content, entertaining interactions and grouped learning, which make them highly popular among teenagers and families who participate in the activity.
"Science in Three and a Half Minutes" encompasses a series of short instructional videos produced by BJSC for science communication. With a focus on the themes ofSecrets of Life” Exhibition Hall, Technology and Everyday Life, and Man-Nature Coexistence” Exhibition Hall, these videos cover popular topics that are closely linked to our everyday life. Short, entertaining, and content-focused,these videos not only disseminate scientific knowledge, but also promote correct scientific thinking and methods, thereby effectively improving the overall scientific literacy of the public.
"Red Scarf Docents" is a training program that combines science learning and career experience for aspiring students, who will receive training at the main exhibition hall of BJSC. Featuring an exciting mix of exhibit-based learning, language training, and volunteer service opportunities, this program is specially devised to cultivate scientific thinking, communication skills, and social responsibility among students.
The "Star Students" program at BJSC tracks and shares the experiences and accomplishments of outstanding students who take an active part in our science education activities.By showcasing their scientific explorations and achievements to the public, this program aims to cultivate an enabling atmosphere for students to learn, love and use science, thereby fostering scientific literacy in teenagers.
Initiated by Beijing Association for Science and Technology, "Science Talks by Academic Experts" is a science communication program that engages far-famed scientists in the science education for teenagers. Since 2019, 43 CAS/CAE members and 169 experts have been invited to give lectures to more than 130 million participants,drawing broad attention and support from all walks of life. In 2019, the program was honored as a "Stellar Example of Innovation in the Ideological and Moral Development of Minors", followed by its inclusion in 2020 into the "Seeing the Future through Words", an online science course sponsored by the China Science and Technology Museum and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. In 2021-2022, building on the past lectures, the program published the "Encountering Science" series of books, which were recommended as excellent books by China Association for Science and Technology.
Beijing Science and Technology Academy for Seniors is committed to building a technology-oriented platform for seniors to learn about technology and for senior scientists to contribute their wisdom.Aimed at improving the scientific literacy of seniors, it focuses mainly on enhancing their information and health literacy, strengthening their ability to adapt to social development, and enhancing their sense of achievement, happiness, and security. By promoting and supporting continued education for seniors, it well caters to seniors' needs for a better life and serves their pursuit of happiness, further learning, meaningful contribution, and proper care.
Thematic Lab is a functional zone that best embodies BJSC's educational philosophy of "combining exhibition with education and making education the main focus". The lab is divided into four major thematic modules, including "Artificial Intelligence", "Scientific Inquiry", "Engineering Practice", and "Innovative Thinking", and offers a broad spectrum of educational activities such as interactive courses, field trips, and lectures for both primary and secondary school students, as well as the general public.
To support the implementation of "Double Reduction" policy by providing access to science education resources in schools and facilitating opportunities for teenagers to engage with science education facilities, and to step up the building of an enabling atmosphere for cultivating innovative young talent in certain basic academic disciplines, BJSC has, pursuant to the overall arrangements of Beijing Association for Science and Technology, extended its horizontal and vertical reach in vigorously promoting the construction of "Studio of Master Teachers" for basic academic disciplines. Taking course development for after-school services as the starting point, BJSC endeavors to improve the overall quality of students and to foster innovative teenagers in basic academic disciplines in a bid to serve Beijing's flagship initiatives such as the "Talent Program" and the "Beijing Youth Science and Technology Reserve Talent Program", and to lay the talent groundwork for building up the International Center for Science & Technology Innovation.
