2000年以来盖尼加·陈博士在泰国国家科技馆(NSM)工作。作为一名科学教育工作者、国际关系官员,她一直致力于博物馆教育计划、公共计划的开发、科学媒体和科学传播培训当中。
在担任泰国国家科技馆科学公众意识负责人一职时,盖尼加博士曾负责国家公共参与项目,如泰国国家科技博览会的运营当中,泰国国家科技博览会是在泰国举行的规模最大的公共科学活动,由高等教育科学研究和创新部提供支持。她还为名为“科学大篷车”的泰国国家科技馆推广部门制定了运营战略和计划,该部门每年为泰国10多个省份的民众提供服务。从而使她更加了解不同社区学生、教师和民众的背景与需求,也使她对推广终身教育产生了兴趣,以便提高人们对可持续发展和公民教育的认识。一直以来,她在科学传播方面的工作涵盖了气候变化、能源、水资源和健康等问题。作为副馆长,她还为一系列新展览开发项目以及科普媒体和活动的开发提供指导和监督,如科幻电影节、科普电视节目、科幻小说和科普在线媒体等项目。她还积极参与国家项目,使科学家和科学专业的学生参与到科学传播,如参与到FameLab、SchoolLab、泰国青年科学大使和科学偶像等项目当中。
盖尼加博士担任泰国科学学会以及泰国小科学家之家项目的执行委员会委员。在国际上,她是亚太科技中心协会(ASPAC)执行委员会委员,并且是东盟-中日韩科学人才委员会成员。她还担任由ASTC出版的《维度》杂志的编辑顾问,并在多所大学和国际论坛担任科学传播和非正式学习的客座讲师。
Dr. Ganigar Chen has been working with the National Science Museum (NSM) Thailand since 2000. Starting as a science educator and international relations officer, she has been involving in developing museum education programs, public programs, science media and science communication training.
In her previous role as the Director of Public Awareness of Science at NSM, Dr. Ganigar had experiences running national public engagement project such as Thailand National Science and Technology Fair which was the largest public science event in Thailand supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. She also developed operation strategy and programs for NSM outreach unit called “Science Caravan” which reaches out to population in more than 10 provinces around Thailand in each year. This offered her an opportunity to understand context and needs of students, teachers, and people in different communities and led to her interests is in promoting lifelong education in order to raise awareness of sustainable development and civic education. Her past and current works in science communication has covered issues such as climate change, energy, water, and health. As Vice President, she also supervises a number of new exhibition development projects as well as development of popular science media and events such as science film festival, science television program, science fiction, and science online media. She also actively involves in national projects that engage scientists and science students in science communication, such as FameLab, SchoolLab, Young Thai Science Ambassador, and Science Idol.
Dr. Ganigar serves as an executive committee member of The Science Society of Thailand and of Thailand Little Scientist House Project. Internationally, she was in the executive committee of Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology Centers (ASPAC) and member of the committee for ASEAN plus Three for Gifted in Science. She also helps as an editorial advisor of Dimension magazine produced by ASTC and is a guest lecturer in science communication and informal learning in several universities and in international forum.
